There are lots of exciting new additions to this innovative family program in Lucca for next summer, including street painting, cartooning from the Renaissance to the modern, sampling locally produced culinary delights and learning about how they are made, along with Arte al Sole's core exploration of the artistic and scientific innovations of the region from antiquity to the present through fun, integrative games and projects. New for this year, director Shannon Venable has partnered with the Colle San Paolo Agriturismo to offer an additional week of Arte al Sole in Panicale, Umbria. Based at the agriturismo's 300-acre organic olive farm, "Castles and Country Roads" will include a visit from a local sheperdhess and her flock, a workshop at the Museum of Glass, one of the oldest glass factories in Italy, where the children will learn the ancient technique of wrapping glass bottles with reeds from Lago Trasimeno, chocolate making in honor of the nearby Perugina chocolate factory, fresco painting, botanical sketching, and forest creature figurines, among much more!
