"New this Year!" Arte al Sole –Umbria Session
Castles and Country Roads
June 28 – July 2 2010

In addition to our program in Tuscany, for 2010 we have added a 1-week session in Colle San Paolo, Umbria (map), amid all that the region has to offer nearby: Lake Trasimeno, Citta della Pieve, Perugia, Gubbio, Assisi, and plenty of characteristic hill towns in between! From our base at the Fontanelle casale, a beautifully restored farmhouse, children will set out on adventures through time and space on an enchanting ancient olive estate nestled in rolling hills and roads that meander through creeks and oak woods. We will visit the Museum of Glass, an ex-glassblowing factory, where the children will learn the disappearing art of weaving straw around glass bottles from traditional craftswomen; a shepherdess will stop by with her flock, a living lesson in pastoral country life; a local cook will teach the children how to prepare local specialties (including chocolates in honor of the Perugina-Nestle chocolate factory nearby); and the children will explore local art, architecture, and legends through our integrative arts curriculum.
Accommodations can be arranged directly with the Colle San Paolo Agriturismo, who can also refer
families to a variety of local options for lodging. For further information, contact shannon@italiakids.com
